The County is bounded on the East by Harris County, on the South by Brazoria County, on the Northwest by Waller and Austin Counties, and on the Southwest by Wharton County. The County covers 886.0 square miles. The 1998 population was 324,189 with a current estimated population of about 362,778. The county is the third fastest growing county in the United States.
