PATROL The patrol section is responsible for the initial response to all criminal calls as well as patrolling the unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County. The deputies are responsible for making written reports on crimes which lead to the investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division. A deputy may be faced with enforcing or investigating any type of criminal offense in a shift.
MOTORCYCLE UNIT The motorcycle section has six deputies assigned who work traffic enforcement in the county. They are assigned to traffic complaints received from citizens and investigate traffic accidents on a daily basis.
LIVESTOCK UNIT There are three deputies assigned to the section. Their responsibilities revolve around the enforcement of livestock laws and cruelty issues with animals. These deputies maintain contact with the livestock owners in the county in order to locate or return missing animals. They work with the SPCA in their investigations as well.
IMPACT TEAM The Impact Team is a group of deputies from patrol that were assembled to address specific problems that regular patrol units may not have time to work on. The team currently consists of a supervisor and three deputies who work in a close proximity to each other at all times. The idea behind this is to flood an area with patrol units. This increases both visibility and the potential for identifying and apprehending the law violator. The team varies their areas of concentration in order to serve all areas of the county. They respond to issues they identify as well as crime complaints received from citizens.
ALARM UNIT The Alarm section is responsible for maintaining records on permitted alarms within the county. They also insure that the County ordinance is enforced concerning these alarms. The section was created due to the large amount of alarm calls that the partol section responds to. The Patrol section responds to an average of 1000 alam calls a month with the majority of them being false alarms.
