FORT BEND COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

K9 SEARCH AND RESCUE UNIT

The Sheriff's Department added a K9 Search and Rescue unit in 1995. The unit uses bloodhounds. These dogs were chosen for their keen scense of smell and their dedication to the job. They are used in every type of search scernio from lost children to tracking suspects.

They are used in physical lineups when trying to connect a suspect to an item of evidence such as a weapon. The dogs are highly respected in the law enforcment community and have been used by the FBI in several different states.

AND NOW THE MAIN DEPUTIES:

COLUMBO I am COLUMBO. I was born 11/17/1991. I weight 110 pounds and began service in 1992. My hobbies are searching for anyone, anytime, anywhere. I'M BIG AND I'M BAD!!! Especially when it comes to having good scents. Oh Boy! Do I ever get excited when we have to go out searching for people. I really don't care who it is or what they did. I just want to find them. I have some great people following me and my nose. They know I can tell them if the person walked away or if they left in a vehicle. There is no greater feeling than finding a lost person or catching a fleeing suspect. After all, that's my job and I take it very seriously. PERSONAL MESSAGE: Bad Boys, Bad Boys, what ya gonna do! What ya gonna do when I come after you?????

SAMANTHA I am SAMANTHA. I was born 04/04/89. I weight 88 pounds and began service in 1991. Since I am the only female of the group, I will forgo my hobbies and describe my beauty features: Ears-long and flowing, Skin-loose fitting, and Lips-full of drool. I have trained my handlers well and they understand my "body language" which has made us very successful whith a total of 150 sucessfull searches. My handlers think that I am working but I will tell you a little secret, I am having SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!. In fact we have been so sucessful that many agencies have called on us for assistance. PERSONAL MESSAGE: USING ME MAKES SCENTS!!!!

QUINCY I am QUINCY. i was born 02/26/97. I weight 95 pounds and began service November 1997. I may be young but I have had experience you would not believe. When I was less than a year old, I flew on an airplane, worked for the FBI(Oh what pressure), rode in a helicopter, trailed real bad guys and stayed in motels(sleeping in my own bed of course). Piece of cake. If that is what it is like to be a trailing bloodhound, then I am in for an incredibly exciting life. After all I was "Born to be Wild". And get this, "I've only just begun! Personal Message: When you need somebody, I'm the dog!

And now for the people that think that they are running the show
